Digital advertising platforms are unique and distinct from each other in many ways, including their advertisement specifications. Ad Specs are the restrictions on the format of a given advertisement defined by the party selling the advertising space. The character limit for each platform is shown in our handy cheat sheet below. Some platforms have a “soft” character limit (i.e. Facebook Ad Primary Texts have a soft limit of 123 characters), where exceeding the character limit is allowed, but after exceeding the character limit the post may be truncated, or in other words, partially hidden behind a “...” or “Read More” button. Others have a “hard” character limit, where the limit cannot be exceeded (i.e. LinkedIn Ad Headlines do not allow for more than 25 characters).
*Please note that the character limit for each platform is built into the Anyword tool. It can be seen by hovering over the output.
